Thursday Summations

This is the age of the algorithm.... a time when all around us are devices that live to predict what we want from our day to day perusing.

When we have reached a time in the world that there is more information freely and readily available than ever before and a serious attempt is being made to help serve us information that we want. time to call in the robots. as the world draws us closer to eachother by communication, we are experiencing our 'nearest neighbours' in as far reaches as over the hills and far away. we have never been more judged before than we are now. The 'tivo thinks im gay' (http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB1038261936872356908.html) story helps us understand some of the inherent complications arising from this autonomous beast. Are we entering into yet another era of social constraints where we are judged not by the wishes of our heart but by the content of our cookies?

Rock on Cotton Socks

Monday monday, dah dah da dadadah....

its important to be aware that we should not base our happiness on events that occur - or in fact fail to occur - in our lives. positive reinforcing statements like the one above are affirmations we should all make to ourselves everyday. self esteem is an attitude of respect for and contentment with oneself based on the recognition of ones abilities and acceptance of ones limitations. Unfortunately it is the testing of these boundaries that causes suffering .not being able or content to accept your own limitations is a cruel and unusual punishment, sometimes ending in death or worse, living a life of purgatory, not letting go of that feeling that you are not good enough. If only it was easy for us all to find our calling, because surely that would be a skill that we would be good at, probably even great at. its when you feel the constant need for positive reinforcement that doesnt appear, thats when the darkness starts.

happy monday

Darwin

charles darwin... its been 150 years since he wrote his book "The Origin of the Species" . Many important genes are shared across the animal kingdom, and we can see important comparisons in the above picture......

Food for thought, but probably not so hungry now after seeing those embryos.... hmmmmmmmm

There are deterministic laws that impose order and limit the paths of evolution. When we construct those laws we will be able to complete Darwins' great project, and explain life itself.....

Darwin you little tease,
